On January 18, 2024, the monument erected in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan on January 20, 1990 and Georgia on April 9, 1989, located in Alget village of Marneuli municipality, was commemorated.
The representative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, the management of "Development and Education Center", "Integration Center of Georgian Azerbaijanis", "Marneuli Community College", active young people and village representative of the mayor took part in the event. After laying flowers on the monument, the memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. Later, Turkan Mammadova gave detailed information about the January 20 tragedy and the events that happened in the region during that period.
Eldar Bayramov, adviser to the Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia, Murad Muradov, executive director of the "Georgian Azerbaijani Integration Center", Emin Ahmadov, director of the "Development and Education Center", and Rasim Ramazanov, the mayor's village representative, spoke at the event.
